About Növarah
Built in Bhutan. Engineered for anywhere.
Növarah Technologies is a software engineering and design firm founded by two engineers with more than a decade inside government platforms, national health systems and high-stakes migrations. We build the systems organisations depend on — and we stay accountable for them.

Who we are
A small senior team with national-scale delivery behind it.
Növarah is a full-stack engineering, product design and technology consulting company headquartered in Thimphu and built to work remotely with clients anywhere. Our early work has been for national institutions — a certification authority, a health secretariat, a government digital-transformation agency — where a lost record or an untraceable decision is not an inconvenience but a failure.
That is the standard we bring to every engagement, public or private: model the real workflow, not the diagram; ship with the audit trail, access control and reporting an enterprise expects on day one; and leave behind a system the next team can understand without us in the room.
We are deliberately lean. Senior engineers do the work, decisions are made quickly, and the people you meet in the first call are the people who build your platform.
How we work
The standard every engagement is held to.
Model reality, not the diagram
A process chart is tidy. Work is not. We design for the exception, the escalation, the handover and the rule that only one person remembers — because that is where systems fail.
Ship inspectable systems
Small releases, visible trade-offs, tests where failure would hurt, and an audit trail on everything that matters. Good engineering should survive a second pair of eyes.
Explain it so it travels
Every decision comes with its reasoning. The architecture, the code and the documentation are yours, and they make sense without us in the room.
Stay answerable
When something breaks, we pick up. The system may be complex; responsibility for it should never be.
Leadership
A young company led by people with long working lives in demanding systems.
Rashme Gurung
Chief Executive Officer · Founder
Rashme has met technology from several sides: teaching IT at Sherubtse College, building software in Java, and working as a senior software engineer at DrukSmart. She founded Növarah and leads it with a close eye on what every technical decision asks of the people living with it.
Ujwal Pradhan
Chief Technology Officer · Co-founder
Across more than thirteen years, Ujwal has led engineering deep inside government systems, enterprise platforms, infrastructure and difficult migrations. He sets Növarah’s technical standard and still pulls at a thread until the whole system explains itself.
The story
2020
— the first company
In 2020 Ujwal Pradhan founded Madmix Studios — an office, a team, ambitious plans and hard deadlines. When Madmix closed, the conviction that a world-class technology company could be built from Bhutan did not.
Ujwal went on to lead engineering on some of the country’s most demanding systems: certification and accreditation platforms, national health-screening programmes, parliamentary digital services and data migrations that could not afford to lose a single record. Rashme Gurung, meanwhile, brought a different lens — teaching IT, writing software and leading engineering teams — and kept pulling every technical conversation back to the people who would live with the result.
Növarah is the company they chose to build together: technically uncompromising, commercially serious, and answerable to the organisations that trust it.
Rashme Gurung founded Növarah and leads it. Her insistence that technology be judged by what it asks of the people using it is the standard every engagement is held to.
Next
Where we are going
The next phase for Növarah is scale without dilution: a larger senior team, deeper AI and automation capability, and long-term partnerships with organisations that need their critical systems built — and kept — right.
The setting will change: a government agency, a regulated enterprise, a founder in another time zone. The obligation to understand the problem, and to own the outcome, does not.
